🗓️ 10 Aug 2026  ·  ✏️ Updated 11 Aug 2026  ·  ⏱️ 1 min read

A heart attack may strike suddenly, but the body usually gives warning signs beforehand.

Key symptoms:
- Pressure-like pain in the center of the chest, spreading to the left arm, neck or jaw
- Cold sweats and shortness of breath
- Nausea or dizziness
- Unusual fatigue

What to do:
If these symptoms appear, go to the nearest hospital emergency department without delay. Call the National Emergency Service at 999 for an ambulance.

Prevention:
Regular blood-pressure and cholesterol checks, quitting smoking, regular exercise and a healthy diet greatly reduce the risk of a heart attack.
